These​ ​sisal,​ ​woven​ ​baskets​ ​are​ ​handmade​ ​by​ ​a​ ​weaving​ ​cooperative​ ​in​ ​southeastern​ ​Kenya.​ ​The​ ​women​ ​hand-dye​ ​the​ ​sisal​ ​fibers​ ​and​ ​weave​ ​them​ ​into​ ​these​ ​beautiful​ ​works​ ​of​ ​art.​ ​​ ​This​ ​type​ ​of​ ​weaving​ ​is​ ​called​ ​fine​ ​weave​ ​because​ ​it​ ​is​ ​woven​ ​with​ ​very​ ​thin​ ​sisal​ ​twine,​ ​making​ ​it​ ​a​ ​more​ ​intricate,​ ​time-consuming​ ​design​ ​and​ ​a​ ​true​ ​work​ ​of​ ​art.​ ​Use​ ​this​ ​African​ ​basket​ ​as​ ​a​ ​plant​ ​holder,​ ​for​ ​storage,​ ​or​ ​to​ ​brighten​ ​up​ ​a​ ​shelf!
